The Contract Manager is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing a high volume of contracts across a national home services platform. This role supports business growth by enabling efficient, standardized contracting processes while protecting the company from legal, financial, and operational risk.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including Vendor and supplier agreements (materials, equipment, IT, marketing)

  • Subcontractor and independent contractor agreements

  • Customer-facing terms and conditions

  • NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and purchase agreements

  • Balance legal risk with commercial objectives to drive timely deal closure

  • Identify key risk areas (indemnity, limitation of liability, insurance, termination rights, payment terms).

  • Manage contracts from intake through execution and renewal

  • Implement and maintain standardized templates

  • Develop and maintain organized contract repository and documentation protocols

  • Partner Groundworks functions, sales, and operations to support contracting needs.

  • Translate business requirements into clear contractual terms.

  • Coordinate internal approvals and ensure alignment with company policies

  • Support field operations with contract-related questions and escalations.

  • Ensure contracts comply with company policies and applicable laws.

  • Escalate non-standard terms or high-risk provisions.

  • Support compliance with: Licensing and permitting requirements (where contractually relevant) Insurance and indemnification standards, and Data privacy and security requirements (for vendors handling customer data).

  • Develop and refine contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines

  • Drive consistency across branch locations and functions.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline contracting workflows and reduce cycle time.

  • Support implementation and optimization of CLM systems.

  • Provide insights on contracting trends and risk areas.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (J.D. or paralegal background is a plus)

  • 5-10+ years of contract management or commercial contracting experience.

  • Strong experience negotiating vendor and service agreements.

  • Excellent understanding of key contract terms and risk allocation

Preferred

  • Experience in home services, construction, or a multi-location service business.

  • Familiarity with high-volume, decentralized operations.

  • Experience with CLM systems.

  • Basic understanding of Employment and independent contractor considerations and Insurance and risk transfer mechanisms

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position primarily based at Groundworks' corporate headquarters with potential for hybrid work arrangements.

  • Fast-paced and collaborative work environment involving regular interaction across departments and with external partners.

  • Occasional travel may be required for industry events, or client meetings.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak business periods or special projects.
