Job description

Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Physician Opportunity

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) offers an opportunity for a board eligible/board certified physician to work in a community/outpatient setting at Moorland Reserve Health Center in New Berlin, Wisconsin, and potentially in outpatient & inpatient settings at the Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VA) in Milwaukee, WI. Join us in transforming health care and connecting communities as we provide exceptional care to diverse communities in southeastern Wisconsin!

This position will consist of modest office hours, call rotation of 1:4 with weekend coverage, and support from the hospitalist with co-management on ICU patients. We also utilize virtual nocturnal ICU coverage, with very limited after-hours critical care needs, allowing us to offer outstanding balance and quality of life. A PFT lab and sleep center is onsite, and procedures such as central lines, intubations, and thoracentesis are optional, but available. The open ICU allows hospitalists to see selected patients without critical care consult mandated unless critically ill requiring vasopressor support or mechanical invasive or non-invasive ventilation. Responsibilities at the VA will include clinics, ICU, and pulmonary consult service weeks & procedures.

Sleep medicine training is helpful, though not necessary. Student teaching opportunities are available.

  • Multidisciplinary Approach and Continuity of Care: Our pulmonary & critical care physicians have broad experience in the evaluation & treatment of patients with advanced lung disease, and we remain closely involved in the care of patients after a transplant. We are committed to offering personalized care and tailoring leading-edge treatment to meet each patient's needs
  • Academics: The faculty & research staff complement the division's goals of identifying ways and/or means of improving outcomes & quality of life for patients with these conditions.   • Leadership: Dr. Julie Biller attended medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She stayed in Chicago, at the University of Chicago, for her Internal Medicine Residency as well as her Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship. As a lifelong Packer fan, she returned to Milwaukee in 1990, and joined the MCW faculty practicing at Froedtert Hospital and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Biller provides care for adults with a wide variety of pulmonary conditions. Along with this, she established the Adult Cystic Fibrosis program, providing care for these individuals, participating in clinical research, and educating medical providers & the public about cystic fibrosis.
