The Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the upkeep and functionality of facilities and equipment. The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks, including repairing electrical, plumbing, and structural systems, conducting routine inspections, and addressing maintenance needs to prevent breakdowns. Additionally, they may oversee the inventory and use of tools and supplies to ensure a safe and efficient environment and reports to the Deputy Warden of Operations. This is a union position.

THE DETAILS:
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Maintenance Worker. The role involves maintaining and repairing electrical devices, fixtures, alarm systems, and security systems within the Prison and on the premises. Responsibilities also include maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures and connections, performing minor structural repairs to buildings and barriers, and supervising the use, maintenance, and repair of the laundry plant. The position oversees the inventory and distribution of maintenance supplies and supervises prison inmates in the performance of authorized tasks. Additional duties include assisting in surveying and reporting on the condition of the plant and premises, as well as managing the inventory, classification, storage, and requisition of tools and implements.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements
Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program, plus one year of experience in trade or maintenance work. Following hire, successful completion and maintenance of accreditation/certification in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, use of automatic external defibrillator (AED), and satisfactory completion of Basic Training at the PA Department of Corrections Academy or its equivalent is required.
Other Requirements
The qualified candidate must be at least 18 years of age by the date of hire. A favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances are required. Following hire, successful completion and maintenance of accreditation/certification in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and use of automatic external defibrillator (AED).
