Overview

NaphCare is hiring an experienced Assistant Facility Health Administrator (AHFA) to join our team at the Arizona Department of Correction-Lewislocated in Buckeye, AZ

As the Assistant Facility Health Administrator (AFHA) you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, to ensure the medical department is well managed and staff are meeting NaphCare policies, guidelines, and expectations.


Responsibilities

Duties / Responsibilities

The Assistant Facility Health Administrator (AFHA) assists in maintaining the overall administrative responsibilities within the facility to ensure our patients in residence receive quality care that protects their rights, dignity and health. Additional duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

  • Providing daily oversight of clinical operations with the medical, mental health, dental and allied health services for the residents
  • Making clinical rounds, managing nursing services, ensure nursing staff are responsive to patients in our care
  • Supervising, coaching, and troubleshooting with staff to support the team and create a cohesive work environment
  • Performing administrative duties such as scheduling, record-keeping, assisting with budgets, financial reports, planning, forecasting and developing corrective action plans to ensure contractual obligations are met
  • Assuring clinical quality standards and expectations are set and monitored through a clinical performance and review process
  • Facilitating staff training and development activities including coordinating in-service training for jail staff
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, regulatory requirements, and legally mandated training requirements for nursing services

Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Hold a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Arizona
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
  • Two years’ experience in health services administration related to comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional health care or acute care setting
  • Ability to manage budgets, analyze contracts, managing complex staffing matrices between medical and mental health teams
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience leading, managing, and coaching medical staff through complex Human Resource issues and challenges
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
