Job Location: Hershey, PA (Onsite)
Summary:

The primary purpose of the Microbiological Lab Supervisor is to provide oversight and leadership for Micro lab services team at Technical Center site. The role ensures the timely and accurate flow of micro testing results to internal customers, supporting manufacturing quality systems, R&D, and CI.


Accountabilities: 

  • Leadership of micro lab day-to-day activities, priority setting, coaching and development of technician to drive proficiency.
  • Ensure proficiency, reliability, accuracy and speed of micro lab analysis by maintaining efficient lab operations and quality management system.
  • Oversee internal/external lab standards, proficiency programs, and ISO-17025 audits. Provide guidance and support for branch micro labs within the network.
  • Coordinate completion and shipment of samples to 3rd party lab when needed.
  • Conduct microbiological risk assessments for new ingredients and serve as Micro SME for ingredient micro approval and R&D support.
  • Promote company culture and coach staff. Align lab activities with business goals.
  • Full-time onsite at Hershey PA.


Experience & Education: 

  • A robust working technical knowledge of food microbiology and food science  processes and micro lab instrumentation.
  • Management experience in ISO 17025 micro labs.
     
  • B.S. in Food Microbiology, Food Science, or related science field.
     
  • 3+ years of microbiology laboratory management experience.
