Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:Responsible for maintaining key performance metrics such as safety, quality, and delivery. Will weld to AWS specs spot weld, operate a variety of tools and equipment. Tools will include prints, bills, ARI, engineering/supervisor direction.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate weld equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform all position and types of welding including certified.
  • Report labor and job data accurately.
  • Maintain quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain clean and neat work area.
  • Perform other jobs within the department or plant as required by supervision.

SKILLS:
A good command of the English language is required, both written and spoken. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Ability to read and understand prints, bills of material, ARI and safety notices. Responsible and accountable for completing all job-related checklists and safety-related checklists, lists pertaining to a particular cab or part, and safety checklists at the beginning of each shift. Possess the ability to set up and operate welding machines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to physically perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Typically requires standing on a regular basis, and walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and handling occasionally. Specific vision requirements include depth perception and peripheral vision.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regularly exposed to noise, odors, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, drafts, vibration, electricity and heights. Typically requires the use of welders, hand tools, hoists, cranes, saws, all air tools, grinders, die grinders, orbiters, drill presses, roller press. Hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes with metatarsal protection, face shield or goggles, welding helmet and gloves are required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Equivalent of one year acceptable welding experience, one year of technical college, Company welding course, or equivalent training. Must have held "B" Welder position for 75 days minimum. Must have passed welder certification test and have stamp.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is beneficial. Equivalent of one year acceptable welding experience preferred or satisfactorily completing the Company welding course and successfully pass test when tested.
