Job description

Purpose Statement:

The Print Operator is responsible for the set- up, operation and maintenance of our print machinery, while adhering to a specified set of blueprints or schematics to create unique stationary, cards, invitations, books, and other such items. Read instructions from order invoice, verify the correct quantities of components and quality check completed items, manage inventory and use hand tools and mechanical equipment to produce structurally sound products that are functional and beautiful. This individual needs to have a high energy, hands-on style; a desire to work at the detail production and technology levels. The ability to keep pace with rapidly growing demand and a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Copying/printing equipment (Xerox 800 Color Press, DocuColor 560, DocuTech 6180, Xerox 4127, Freeflow/Digipaths, Xerox Makeready application, etc.)
  • Operate and maintain iGEN press.
  • Tracks and records all consumables and through put of equipment, documents, and maintenance issues.
  • Coordinates open tickets for more serious maintenance issues.
  • Keeps color profiles necessary for consistency through daily calibration.
  • Sets up and operates digital presses in the most cost-effective and efficient manner while maintaining image quality.
  • Completes in-process inspections; follows work instructions and control plan in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of how to calibrate the iGEN press to maintain optimal color output.
  • Perform machine maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of digital press equipment.
  • Minor maintenance functions include cleaning, replenishing consumables, and replacing parts as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of all variables print stocks.
  • Ensure that the work area is kept neat, clean, safe, and organized at all times.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting work orders.
  • Ensuring that all products are in compliance with QA standards.
  • Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy or quality standards for the work performed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
