SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under supervision, is responsible for collating, wrapping and mailing, stapling, cutting and padding, folding and binding various materials in the Print Shop. Incumbent performs related work as required.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Places printed materials in automatic collators, adjusts for proper operation, checks for proper quality and adjusts collators to proper stock; hand-sorts, stocks; places printed materials into proper sets, determines and selects machine and method of stapling; adjusts and cuts forms, cards and covers to requested size and applies padding compound as needed; folds booklets, brochures and pamphlets with folder machine to set specifications; binds orders to meet requested specifications with punch and binder, heat tape binder or spiral/comb binder.
Marks and boxes orders and delivers orders to the mail room; greets clients and answers questions; assists clients picking up orders by locating order, loading into client's vehicle and indicating that order has been filled.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and experience would be:
  1. Reading, writing, basic math, and verbal communication proficiency;

AND
  1. Related experience that would likely demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the class.

Knowledge of: Print shop equipment, operations and procedures; safe work practices and basic understanding of equipment problem solving.
Skill at: Operating print shop equipment; reading and following instructions; working effectively with those contacted at work.
Special Requirements: Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Physical Demands: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment: The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, residences, or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year. New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position.

New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Non-licensed employees will have $58.50 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every five years. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.
