Position Summary

The Supervisor - Electrical will be responsible for overseeing all electrical maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant’s electrical systems and equipment. This role involves supervising electricians, coordinating maintenance schedules, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

The Supervisor - Electrical will be responsible for the following:
  • Supervise, lead, and coordinate the daily activities of the electrical maintenance team.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective electrical maintenance for pellet plant machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure all electrical installations, repairs, and modifications are done according to electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system failures, faults, and breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect electrical systems, components, and wiring to identify hazards, defects, and necessary improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize plant performance and ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and compliance.
  • Manage inventory of electrical spare parts and tools, ensuring availability and proper storage.
  • Train and mentor electricians and junior staff on safety practices, electrical standards, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety policies, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Assist in budgeting and procurement of electrical equipment and services.
  • Participate in plant shutdowns, installations, and commissioning of new electrical systems.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Electrician Journeyman’s license and two or more years related experience; or at least four years of electrical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial setting may be considered in lieu of license.
  • Working knowledge of processing facility operations in the Mining industry including maintenance, safety, maintenance, equipment, and staff utilization.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical code, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical prints and schematics.
  • Experience/knowledge in NFPA 70E (arc flash) and MSHA requirements.
  • Project management experience with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with document control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively train and mentor employees.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Completion of 2-year technical program or Bachelor's Degree in related curriculum.
  • Master Electricians License preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires some work in front of a PC, desk, and phone and regular field work.
  • Some lifting and strength required.

Salary Range:

  • $95,000 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
