Job description

THE POSITION Are you a problem-solver with the skills and experience needed to complete complex time-sensitive and data-sensitive work in a print and mail production environment. If so, we encourage you to apply for this Print Production Technician position with the Department of General Services, Bureau of Publications, Printing Division. As part of our team, you will help provide high-quality, cost-effective print and mail services to support the business operations of all agencies in the Commonwealth.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports a high-volume print and mail environment by operating advanced production equipment and handling time sensitive materials. As a Print Production Technician, you will perform the following duties: Equipment Operation: Operate high speed digital printers and intelligent inserters to complete time sensitive and data sensitive work Print Setup: Prepare and program printing equipment based on job specifications and manage tasks in the print queue Quality Review: Check printed materials for accuracy, proper stock usage, and consistent print quality while addressing any print issues Color and Offset Work: Run digital offset equipment, maintain consistent color output, and troubleshoot mechanical or print concerns Bindery Tasks: Carry out manual bindery work such as binding, padding, banding, and preparing materials for delivery Production Tracking: Record production activities in the print management system and meet scheduled deadlines Interested in learning more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment in a 24 hours per day, 5 days a week facility Work schedules include a 30 minute lunch: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday - Friday 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM Sunday - Thursday 30 minute lunch This position is considered essential. You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Print Production Operator (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience in the operation of print or mail insertion equipment or similar machinery used in a print or mail production facility; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: You must have experience running production equipment.
