Production Artist
Founded in 1919 as Phototype and recently rebranded as the Olberding Brand Family, we are a family company focused on delivering the highest quality and client service in the graphics design, management and printing industry. We Design, Optimize and Protect Brands. Our clients are primarily consumer products companies and printers and we help them by delivering a broad range of services from brand strategy and packaging design, to adaptive design across various print and digital platforms, all the way to color management and the production of printing plates. With our world headquarters located in Cincinnati, we have over 450 employees throughout the United States and offices in Europe and Asia.
The Production Artist takes from a designer a comprehensive, better known as a "comp," which could be an incomplete electronic file, images, or even a hand-drawn sketch of a designer's intention, and creates a mechanical — a complete digital file or combination of files that's problem-free when used for production.

The Production Artist is responsible for converting and translating customer submitted artwork into a press compatible format. The Production Artist maintains an effective and efficient workflow from the point the artwork is scheduled to the proof stage. The artist maintains direct and open communication with internal team and client to ensure the final art meets the clients and printers needs.

**Only candidates fluent with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat will be considered**
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Work on CPG client jobs creating production art, line extensions and prepping jobs for assembly, which will include but not limited to: preflighting, typesetting, image placement, layout, spot color adaption, etc.
  • Manipulate customer artwork so printed materials can be produced according to the production requirements
  • Output production proofs depicting final layout for customer approval
  • Design all files according to the requirements of the press it will run on; including press marks, color correction, etc.
  • Make independent judgment in graphic assembly of working art files; analyzing needs and product regulatory requirements to create a final press-ready file
  • Maintain an effective comprehension of calibration, profiling and workflow procedures
  • Proofread all work including customer proofs and final files
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across orders so that output flows efficiently and effectively
Qualifications Include:
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator skills
  • Knowledge of consumer products packaging, creative design, production artwork and print services preferred
  • Deep understanding of major printing methods (Flexo, Gravure, Offset)
  • Proficient use of Apple operating system including knowledge of business software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro and Acrobat
