Title: Print Production Supervisor
Reports To: Print Production Manager
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Print Production Supervisor’s primary responsibility will be to coordinate files for accurate print production and assist in the production and quality control of print for OnQ jobs.  Duties include detailing print specification forms (PPS), assisting with production for multiple jobs, releasing POs, collaborating with the graphic design team to generate production ready art files, follow through with QA and QC print & pack out related documentation, execute print production, and manage/maintain relationships with all print vendors.

The Print Production Supervisor will also support the broader team and could be called upon to complete other Print Production tasks. This includes but is not limited to setting up labels for print, printing instruction sheets and labels using our Konica Minolta AccurioPress C4070 production printer with Command WorkStation, printing graphics on our Mimaki JFX200-2513 Press, cutting graphics on our Zund PN2500, and potentially assisting with the creation of labels and instruction sheets. Project management skills required.

This position will report to the Print Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

●        Review incoming files for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to job specifications.

●        Preflight files to detect and resolve errors related to fonts, colors, image resolution, bleed, and layout.

●        Prepare digital files for graphic production.

●        Prepare Print Production specification forms.

●        Issue Purchase Orders to vendors.

●        Upload digital files to vendors.

●        Manage proofing processes from die line generation, through soft proof, hard proof and production.

●        Organize and file production proofs.

●        Update and maintain QA /QC processes necessary for print production.

●        Prepare graphic load tags to identify printed goods.

●        Coordinate the movement of printed parts within the warehouse.

●        Assist in managing graphic pack outs at off-site 3PL vendors.

●        Prepare and print in-house graphics including but not limited to comps, instruction sheets, labels and other relevant in-house printed items.

●        Attend offsite press checks at suppliers as needed.

●        Inspect inbound print production items.

●        Check BOM’s and Print files for accuracy.

2. Requirements and Qualifications

●        College degree or equivalent work experience. Relevant educational background, preferably in the fields of graphics design and print production.

●        Strong working knowledge of Google Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe In design, Microsoft Office products and other print related software.

●        Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills. Strong time management skills.

●        Outstanding work ethic with intense attention to detail. Self-motivated to tackle the day’s tasks. Does not need micro-management, but also not afraid to ask for help and communicate any potential issues.

●        Works well with internal team members to drive and deliver results with a positive attitude and outlook - solve the problem instead of dwelling on it.

●        Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for collaborating and working with internal team members

3. Process Improvement:

●        Analyze departmental processes and protocols to identify areas for improvement for prepress operations. 

●        Maintain and improve strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors and streamline operations.

4. Communication:

●        Communicate with designers, project managers and print production team to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

Education, Certifications and Experience:

●        College degree or equivalent work experience in print production / prepress / graphics required.

Work Environment

●        This is an in-office position in our brand-new Akron facility.

●        Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

●        Fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment.

●        May require occasional overtime based on project timelines.

●        Some lifting and material moving required (paper rolls, magnet rolls, large sheets of styrene, etc.).
