What is print modeling?

Print modeling is a type of modeling where individuals pose for photographs that are used in printed materials such as magazines, catalogs, advertisements, brochures, and billboards. Print models work to showcase clothing, products, or concepts in still images rather than live runway shows or commercials. This field requires models to have good photogenic qualities, the ability to express different emotions, and often a versatile look to fit various campaigns. Print modeling can range from high-fashion editorials to commercial print ads for everyday products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a print model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Print Model, you typically need a distinctive look, good physical fitness, and the ability to pose naturally, often supported by a professional portfolio and agency representation. Familiarity with photography, lighting setups, and the ability to follow direction during shoots are essential technical aspects. Confidence, adaptability, and strong communication skills help models build rapport with photographers and creative teams. These skills ensure that a print model can effectively convey the desired image or message for brands and publications, resulting in successful campaigns.

What are some common challenges faced by print models during photo shoots, and how can they be managed?

Print models often encounter challenges such as long hours, frequent wardrobe and makeup changes, and the need to maintain energy and focus throughout a shoot. Adapting quickly to different creative directions and working with various photographers or stylists is essential. Building strong communication skills, maintaining a professional attitude, and preparing physically and mentally for shoots can help models manage these challenges effectively and ensure successful collaborations.

Job description

Company Overview

David Hotson_Architect is an architectural practice focused on the treatment of architectural space as an artistic medium, shaped to respond to the moving point of view.

Recently completed projects include the Saint Sarkis Armenian Church, which received the AIANY Honor Award in April 2024. The church was described by Pulitzer Prize-winning architectural critic Mark Lamster as โ€œโ€ฆ..the most aesthetically remarkable and emotionally moving work of architecture produced in North Texas in a generation.โ€ In December 2025, our SkyHouse penthouse was selected by Interior Design Magazine as the single most impactful apartment of the past twenty years.

We are seeking one or more highly motivated designers to participate in the ongoing development of our design direction. A successful candidate will have a deep interest in architectural space, facility with rigorous and complex 3D spatial modeling, and expertise in cutting-edge architectural visualization. This is an opportunity to shape the conceptual trajectory of an established practice with a long record of high-quality work.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Our spatial design direction requires advanced 3D modeling capabilities, with a heavy emphasis on complex and double-curved geometry, the manipulation of sightlines, rapid iteration, and fluid interplay between CAD, rendering, animation, and 3D-printed models. The candidate will work closely with design leadership. The ability to maintain focus and work efficiently in a motivated, self-directed work ethic will be prerequisites for success.
  • Modeling: Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Rhino is an absolute requirement for the position. Experience with Grasshopper is desired, both in the use of standard components for parametric design and in the development of novel scripts for automation and standardization of modeling tasks.
  • Visualization: Our focus on space and its experience in vision is best demonstrated to clients and patrons through animated visualization in which the point of view translates in space. For this reason, our studio places emphasis on photorealistic visualization, with a focus on rendered animations. The candidate must demonstrate experience in producing high-quality renderings; moreover, they should have a deep interest in architectural visualization as a component of practice and be interested in participating in contemporary visualization processes. Proficiency in either Unreal Engine, Lumion, and V-Ray, or equivalent rendering packages is required (preference will be given to Unreal Engine). Familiarity with Adobe Premiere or equivalent video-editing software is desired. Familiarity with generative AI tools is a plus.
  • Conceptualization: The ideal candidate will demonstrate interest and capability in participating in high-level design discussions and explorations of architectural space; they will be expected to contribute original design iterations and ideas while also carefully following design programs laid out by team leads.
  • 3D Printing: We use 3D-printed models as both internal design development tools and external presentation. The candidate should demonstrate advanced proficiency at producing complex, multi-part 3D-printed models from complex digital models.
  • Other Assets: Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, in particular InDesign and Photoshop, is desired.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a significant plus.
  • Experience in construction, construction document production, and construction detailing is a plus.
Growth and Adaptability

Candidates should show flexibility, curiosity, and willingness to experiment, take leadership in developing best practices, and continually seek new approaches to augment and bolster our ongoing architectural trajectory. An ideal candidate will be excited to grow into a leadership role and take ownership of a broad sector of the practiceโ€™s creative output. Roles may evolve from moment to moment according to the rhythms of project timelines.

Working Arrangements

Flexible work arrangements, including part-time, freelance, and remote work, are open for consideration.
