Job description

Job Summary
The John H.and Patricia W. Mitchell Business Communication Lab (MBCL) at the College of Business has a tutor-consultant opening for qualified applicants starting Fall 2026. The MBCL is looking for consultants who are interested in tutoring written, verbal and digital business communication assignments at the undergraduate and graduate level. In a one-on-one environment at the COB's Mitchell Lab, tutors will coach students in a variety of audience-based communications. Sessions will be conducted virtually or in-person.
Applications must include a resume and cover letter, and a writing sample (in one file) to be submitted to this job posting.
Basic duties:
  • Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with and learn from others.
  • Support graduate and undergraduate student business writer s in digital, print and oral communications.
  • Mee t students remotely or in person as needed.
  • Attend paid staff meetings and training.
  • Assist with Lab programming, as needed.
  • Maintain session records.
  • En sure confidentiality of student work in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA),
  • Perform duties and maintain standards according to college policies, procedures, and values.

Starting pay is $16.00/hr.
Required Qualifications*
A bachelor's degree in Business, Communication or a related discipline with applicable work experience is required. A Master's-level student or graduate student is preferred and will be given priority. Multilingual students with expertise in English are especially encouraged to apply.
