Summary of Position
This job requires general tutorial duties that are discipline specific to the Mathematics Department. The incumbent is responsible for tutoring duties that will help assist students who are in the Advanced Mathematics Laboratory.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required AND major in mathematics or related field with enrollment in Pre-Calculus required.
• Must have completed College Algebra and/or Elementary Statistics successfully.
• Successful completion of Pre-Calculus or Calculus I preferred.
Must upload transcripts to prove enrollment in Pre-Calculus to be considered for position
One year wage earning experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Ability
  • Must have ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must demonstrate a high level of verbal and writing skills, as well as computational skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications and the usage of advanced mathematics software application.
  • Provide good customer service to the students

Essential Functions
  • Assisting students requesting walk-in tutoring.
  • Monitoring student use of math software, computers, and printer. Implementing corrective action for the misuse of lab equipment.
  • Monitoring and assisting student use of personal and lab calculators.
  • Tutoring individuals and small groups as assigned by the Advanced Math Lab Resources Coordinator.
  • Running the Advanced Math Lab when the Advanced Math Lab Resources Coordinator and/or full-time Advanced Math Lab Assistant(s) are not available or his/her schedule work time has concluded (per schedule).
  • Performing other required tasks as assigned by the supervisor and departmental chair.
