Over the past 225 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

The New York Post is looking for a creative, versatile Design Editor (Tuesday - Saturday, 11am-7pm) to join our fast-paced newsroom. If you have a passion for bold visuals, a digital-first mindset, and the skills to turn ideas into eye-catching designs, this role is for you. As a key member of our Design Team, you'll help bring stories to life across digital and social platforms, as well as print.

Responsibilities:

  • Design compelling digital visuals including interactive infographics, illustrations, editorial print features, animations for online and social, composites and maps.

  • Stay ahead of design trends, tools, and techniques to keep our visuals fresh, relevant and competitive.

  • Collaborate with the Lead Design Editor and Sr. Design Editors to develop innovative graphic concepts that align with the Post's bold brand identity.

  • Work closely with editorial teams to integrate text and visuals seamlessly, enhancing storytelling whether digitally or in print.

  • Generate fresh ideas for visual storytelling, with a strong focus on engaging digital content.

  • Prioritize multiple projects efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and design tools such as Flourish and MapCreator.

  • A digital-first approach with ability to create designs for web, mobile, and social platforms; Solid foundation in print design techniques is also necessary.

  • Exceptional sense of typography, layout, and visual and information hierarchy.

  • Create charts and visualizations from complex datasets such as financial reports, press releases etc and distill information for general audiences.

  • Ability to think creatively and strategically under tight deadlines.

  • Passion for news, sports, viral content, pop culture, and emerging digital trends.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • A portfolio showcasing a range of design work, especially digital projects.

  • Willingness to work on weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Basic coding knowledge (HTML, CSS, JAVA)

Note: The New York Post adheres to an on-site work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 5 days per week.

Base Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000

We're committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate's experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.

For bonus-eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.
