Job description

IMEG is hiring an Accounting Associate - Accounts Payable in Rock Island, IL, to manage vendor payments and cash receipts while supporting accurate data entry and invoicing. This role also helps ensure confidential information is handled appropriately while delivering a strong service experience for IMEG customers and vendors.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, discrepancy resolution, and payment execution, while ensuring compliance with internal controls and delivering excellent service to vendors.
  • Issue accurate and timely vendor payments through AP checks or ACH
  • Work directly with staff and vendors to resolve invoicing issues and questions
  • Cash receipt processing and batch reconciliation utilizing BOT automation
  • Handle office lease payments and track new or terminated leases to ensure appropriate landlord payments are sent
  • Prepare vendor invoices for BOT processing and maintain check images and payment records as file backup
  • Research files and computer reports to resolve vendor complaints related to non-payment
  • Ensure payment is received for outstanding invoices and work with AR and billing staff on receipt inquiries
  • Process year-end 1099s as required
  • Maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel, project, client, and vendor-related material
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • 2 years post-high school education or high school diploma
  • 5 years of accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in the engineering and/or the construction industry is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong customer service abilities and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to mentor and train accounting team members
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable using software with willingness to learn new software as required
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset
  • Detail-oriented, organized, consistent, and dependable
  • Familiarity with Deltek-Vantagepoint or similar software preferred
  • Enjoys working both autonomously and in a team environment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize
  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

State of Illinois Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
