Position Specific Description

The Principal Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance throughout NextEra Energy's ETRM transformation project and ongoing operations. This role requires deep expertise in energy trading and risk management systems, particularly OpenLink Endur, and the ability to independently manage data migration, cleansing, and governance activities across commodities including IR Swaps, Oil/Fuels, Environmentals, Natural Gas, and Power. Success in this position demands strong analytical capabilities, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to establish and maintain enterprise data standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Migration Leadership: Lead end-to-end data migration efforts from legacy ETRM system to OpenLink Endur across multiple commodities, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness throughout the transformation

Data Quality & Validation: Design and execute comprehensive data validation strategies, identify data anomalies, and implement cleansing protocols to ensure trading, risk, and accounting data meets regulatory and SOX compliance requirements

Data Governance Framework: Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures that align with enterprise objectives and regulatory requirements; serve as subject matter expert for ETRM data architecture

Stakeholder Management: Proactively identify and engage data owners across front office, middle office, back office, and accounting functions; track down data lineage and resolve discrepancies through collaborative problem-solving

Project Execution: Act as project manager for data-related workstreams within the ETRM transformation project; manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables with minimal supervision

Documentation & Metadata Management: Create and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, mapping documents, and governance documentation to support ongoing operations and audit requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with IT, Trading, Risk, Accounting, and Compliance teams to ensure data flows support business processes and reporting needs

Post-Implementation Support: Develop sustainable data maintenance protocols to preserve data quality and standards beyond project go-live

Training & Knowledge Transfer: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts and business users on data governance best practices and ETRM system data structures

Job Overview

This position implements and maintains on-premises and cloud-based company and product data infrastructure, including relational databases, non-relational databases and any other data stores required by the company or its products. Employees in this role are responsible for creating processes and implementing software to facilitate management of data including, but not limited to, data pipelines, data catalogs, data governance, master data and overall data quality.
