Job description

Mazak Corporation is looking for a Purchasing Agent II to join the Purchasing Department. The Purchasing Agent II will be able to communicate effectively and successfully negotiate pricing and delivery of needed components from domestic and international suppliers. Issuing purchase orders to suppliers and tracking or expediting delivery of purchased goods is a daily task. The Purchasing Agent II must adhere to purchasing budgets for each supplier while maintaining proper inventory levels with an often-changing production schedule. Coordinating efforts between suppliers and engineering is an ongoing effort. It is necessary to forecast future product needs using a variety of tools to ensure product availability. Continuous supplier evaluation of pricing, product availability and quality is required. Making logistics decisions to ensure best value is another ongoing, daily task.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Issue and manage purchase orders to various suppliers for production and expense related items.
• Control inventory levels to properly support production while managing W.I.P.
• Negotiate pricing and delivery of all items and services provided by suppliers you manage.
• Forecast future needs to ensure product availability at lowest cost.
• Coordinate efforts of suppliers and engineering to ensure success.
• Manage supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, pricing, and product offering.
• Work closely with and support internal customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Work closely with material handling department to ensure efficient flow of materials.
• Find new suppliers as needed and manage corporate relationships.
• Determine logistics plan for suppliers that ensures availability and affordability of items.
• Ensure completion of the purchasing effort through all steps including receipt and invoice payment.
• Provide accurate and timely delivery information for all items or services purchased.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports as required.
• Embrace and learn relevant new technology as it becomes available.
• After hours contact with international suppliers is sometimes necessary
• Adhere to corporate ISO policies and guidelines.
• Cover for material control teammates as required.
• Represent Mazak Corporation in a professional manner.
• Assist in the physical inventory effort.
• Project management is sometimes required.
• Adherence to all corporate safety procedures is required.
• Domestic and international travel sometimes required.
Education/Certification:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• College degree preferred, trade school certification, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Skills:
• 4 - 9 years of Purchasing or related experience.
• Inventory control experience desired.
• Negotiation skills desired.
• Electrical and/or mechanical background/understanding is desired.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings desired.
• Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to work both independently and as a team.
• Must have good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Power BI experience preferred.
• ERP and other computer / software experience preferred.
• High level of ethics and integrity is required.
• Must have good problem-solving skills.
