Strong interpersonal skills, motivational interviewing, and the ability to educate patients are crucial for guiding lifestyle changes and fostering long-term adherence. These competencies are vital for effectively reducing cardiovascular risk, improving patient outcomes, and advancing public health.

What is a preventive cardiologist?

Their main focus is on prevention through lifestyle counseling, risk assessment, and early intervention with medications or other therapies. Preventive cardiologists work with patients to develop personalized plans that may include diet changes, exercise, weight management, and controlling conditions like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. This proactive approach helps reduce the likelihood of heart disease and improves overall heart health.
