Prevention specialists are professionals who design, implement, and evaluate programs aimed at reducing risks and preventing negative outcomes, such as substance abuse, violence, or health problems, in various populations. They may work in schools, community organizations, healthcare settings, or government agencies. Their work involves educating individuals and communities, promoting healthy lifestyles, and connecting people with resources to address risk factors. Prevention specialists often collaborate with other professionals to develop comprehensive strategies that address underlying issues and promote long-term well-being.

Familiarity with data management tools, reporting systems, and sometimes certifications like Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) are commonly required. Strong communication, cultural competency, and collaboration skills help build effective community partnerships and deliver impactful interventions.
