Job description

Industrial Electrician โ€“ Hydrogen Fueling Station - PREVAILING WAGE Position Summary - Public Government Work

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of electrical systems and equipment at hydrogen fueling stations. This role supports the safe and reliable operation of hydrogen production, compression, storage, dispensing, and facility infrastructure systems while ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems, equipment, and controls.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on motors, pumps, compressors, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and hydrogen dispensing equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Inspect electrical installations for compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and local regulations.
  • Test electrical systems using meters, analyzers, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities for hydrogen production and fueling equipment.
  • Maintain emergency shutdown systems, safety interlocks, gas detection systems, and fire protection controls.
  • Assist with upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports accurately.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient facility performance.
  • Participate in on-call and emergency response activities as required.
Qualifications Required
  • Experience in hydrogen, natural gas, oil & gas, chemical processing, renewable energy, or fueling station environments.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent electrical trade qualification.
  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controls, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of hazardous locations (Class I, Division 1 & 2) and intrinsically safe systems.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and industrial networking.
  • NFPA 70E electrical safety training.
  • Hydrogen safety training and familiarity with hydrogen fueling technologies.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces when required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
