Job Description
  • The Second Pressman assists the Lead Press Operator (First Pressman) in setting up, operating, and maintaining printing presses to ensure high-quality production. This position is a key support role on the press crew, handling ink, paper, make-ready tasks, and quality checks to keep the press running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the First Pressman with press setup, adjustments, and operation for each job.
  • Prepare and load paper, ink, and other materials as specified on the job ticket.
  • Monitor print quality during production, making minor adjustments as directed.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of the press and equipment.
  • Mix, adjust, or replenish inks and coatings to maintain consistency.
  • Inspect printed materials for color accuracy, registration, and overall quality.
  • Record production data such as run times, waste, and material usage.
  • Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Communicate any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to the First Pressman or supervisor promptly.

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a Press Helper, Feeder, or in a similar printing support role preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of offset press operation and print production processes.
