This position is responsible for setting up the press for the operators using the required materials for the particular product that is being produced (paper, ink, etc.) per job ticket and schedule.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review job tickets and schedule then organizes and prepares loads for presses
  • Operates load turner effectively
  • Bring material to each machine for job runs
  • Mix inks as needed and change ink drums
  • Pull ink, paper, chemicals, special sheets
  • Communicates effectively with press crew, materials handlers, and supervisors
  • Follows instructions and works with press crews on the presses when required
  • Maintains housekeeping in assigned areas of the pressroom (e.g., sweeping, emptying trash cans, etc.) as needed
  • Stocks shelves with incoming inventory or ordered items when required
  • Cleans cutting area as needed
  • Performs other job duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to operate fork truck and electric jack truck
  • Able to learn how to handle/log thin weight stocks
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience
  • Must pass color vision and hue tests
  • Basic computer skills required (email, word processing, etc.)
  • Good attendance and reliability is essential
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
