Job description

Primary responsibility is Prepress Mac file production for offset printed products including: packaging, saddlestitch and perfectbind books, menus, diecut/foil/emboss items and all other general commercial work. Candidate must have a well-rounded knowledge of the entire print production process, strong verbal and written communication skills, maintain high quality standards and be detail oriented.
Job Duties
  • Perform work as assigned by Prepress Manager. This includes:
  • Application file prep
  • Make plates
  • Trim and QC proofs
  • Use Adobe Suite products daily, especially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Use Prepress software/impostion (i.e. Kodak Prinergy/Preps)
  • Communicate well. Respond to questions and provide support to others in Prepress, outside departments and clients in a professional manner
  • Make suggestions to improve processes and reduce mistakes
  • Observe that proper quality control procedures are being followed
  • Keep department clean and organized

Schedule
Monday - Friday 2pm to 10pm with overtime and Saturday rotation as needed.
Position Structure:
The Prepress Operator reports directly to the Prepress Manager
Experience:
2-5 years Prepress and print production knowledge required.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional coursework or industry training a plus.
Language Skills:
Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures and government regulations. Also, you must have the ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from employees and management.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. The employee is required to sit, stand, kneel and crouch. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following duties satisfactorily. The employee must be available 8 hours per day and willing to work overtime and extra days should the workload demand it. You must meet the physical requirements for the job and be computer literate and able to use Prepress software, MIS system, MS Office applications, E-Mail and the Internet. Experience and education are important factors.
