Job Purpose and Reporting Structure:

Under the direction of Shift Supervision, the Press Assistant is responsible for supporting press operations by preparing materials, assisting with machine setup, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. This role ensures presses run efficiently, products meet customer specifications, and production schedules stay on track.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Press Operator with setup, operation, and troubleshooting during press runs.
  • Prepare inks, solvents, film, and other materials needed for production.
  • Monitor running film for flaws, splices, or defects; report issues as needed.
  • Remove completed product from the press and stage for next steps.
  • Clean presses, pumps, and surrounding work areas to maintain hygiene and efficiency.
  • Pull stock and materials from storage as required.
  • Accurately complete all required production and quality documentation.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 to 12 months of related experience in manufacturing or machine operation preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic math and and measurement skills (add, subtract, fractions, decimals, percentages).
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and job specifications.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 100 pounds and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working near machinery and with chemicals in a loud production setting.
  • Experience operating a press, forklift, hoists, or other material handling tools is a plus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls and reach above shoulders. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
