Job Title: Assistant Teacher – Preschool 3
Reports To: Executive Director
Department: Early Childhood Education

Position Summary

The Assistant Teacher – Preschool 3 supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment for three-year-old scholars. This role assists with implementing developmentally appropriate instruction, maintaining classroom routines, ensuring active supervision, and supporting overall classroom management in alignment with licensing and organizational standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction & Curriculum
  • Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the program curriculum (Frog Street)
  • Assist with activities that promote early literacy, language, math, and social-emotional development
  • Help maintain consistent daily routines, transitions, and schedules
  • Engage scholars during whole group, small group, and center-based learning
School Readiness & Development
  • Encourage independence through daily routines (toileting, clean-up, transitions)
  • Support the development of communication, social interaction, and self-regulation skills
  • Reinforce learning through guided play and hands-on experiences
  • Assist in meeting the individual needs of all scholars
Supervision & Safety
  • Maintain active supervision at all times in the classroom, playground, and all transitions
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and licensing standards
  • Follow all emergency and safety procedures
  • Support maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free classroom environment
Assessment & Documentation
  • Assist with maintaining accurate classroom documentation (lesson plans, daily logs, observations)
  • Support tracking scholar development and progress
  • Ensure required postings and classroom documentation remain current and visible
Classroom Management & Behavior Support
  • Support the Lead Teacher in implementing positive guidance strategies (Conscious Discipline)
  • Reinforce expectations, routines, and respectful interactions
  • Assist in redirecting behavior using developmentally appropriate strategies
  • Promote a calm, structured, and engaging classroom environment
Family Communication & Engagement
  • Greet families professionally during arrival and dismissal
  • Share appropriate daily updates with families as directed by the Lead Teacher
  • Support building positive relationships with scholars and families
Compliance & Professionalism
  • Follow all licensing, TRS, and organizational standards at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality of scholar and family information
  • Adhere to dress code and professional expectations
  • Participate in required trainings, meetings, and professional development
Requirements:Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent credential per licensing standards
  • Previous experience working with preschool
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of child development and school readiness principles

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Experience with curriculum implementation and assessments
  • CPR / First Aid Certification
