Position Summary
Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC (GEO + BAT Teams) effort. This position develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, large data set manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems. The Software Engineer will work independently or as part of a team to design, code, test, debug, and improve software solutions based on documented requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Write or review software and system documentation.
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow and data usage, and investigating problem areas.
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on a particular project.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong Java experience.
  • Experience with MapReduce.
  • Cloud experience.
  • Experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar.
  • Experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar.
  • Experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
  • Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.
Required Education and Experience Equivalency
  • High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience.
  • Associates Degree with 11 years of experience.
  • Bachelors' Degree with 7 years of experience.
  • Masters' Degree with 7 years of experience.
  • PhD with 7 years of experience.
Required Certifications
