Construction Estimator

Kennebunk, ME | Full-Time |

Built for the coast. Made for Maine.

Nautilus Construction is a residential construction company based in Wells, ME, specializing in custom builds, renovations, and additions throughout southern Maine. We're detail-driven, client-focused, and built on integrity.

We're looking for a Construction Estimator to support our preconstruction process -- from initial plan review through bid submission.


What You'll Do

  • Assist lead estimator with detailed material takeoffs from plans and specs
  • Solicit and track subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Maintain bid files, vendor quotes, and cost documentation
  • Perform field measurements and site visits to verify scope
  • Enter and maintain cost data in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Support preparation of proposals and bid packages
  • Attend preconstruction meetings; document notes and follow-ups
  • Assist with change order pricing and budget tracking
  • Support project handoffs from preconstruction to field team


What You Need

  • 1-3 years in construction estimating, takeoffs, or project coordination
  • Working knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Sheets
  • Strong attention to detail -- manage multiple bids at once
  • Ability to read architectural plans and specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Valid driver's license + reliable transportation for site visits

Preferred:

  • Experience with Hover, Bluebeam, or similar estimating/CRM software
  • Background in framing, finish carpentry, or general contracting
  • Familiarity with Maine building codes and permitting
  • Associate's or Bachelor's in Construction Management
