Job description

MAS is looking for an individual to lead our Estimating Team as Chief Estimator at our Norfolk, MA office. This Team has a successful bidding history, ensuring consistent growth of the Heavy Civil/Bridge Division. The Chief Estimator will be a senior leader within the Estimating & Preconstruction Department, responsible for the pursuit of contract work, driving the estimating processes, training estimators, and supporting the Division's strategic plan for continued growth.


What you will be working on:


  • Assessing bid opportunities and estimating resource availability
  • Managing and participating in the estimating process:
    • Assignments and schedule
    • Process compliance and coverage
    • Bid schedules and balances for large projects
    • Estimate review meetings
    • Bid-day closeout
    • Determine and quantify project risks
    • Design-Build Procurements/Estimates
    • Joint-Venture Estimates
    • Existing and new vendor relationships
    • Post-bid documentation control
  • Assisting with post-award process in coordination with Preconstruction Manager
  • Managing and mentoring a team of estimators
  • Collaborating with operations, project management and executive leadership
  • Supporting business development, client and designer relationship efforts
  • Driving continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools


Ideal Qualifications:


  • 15+ Years of experience in Bridge/Heavy Civil Construction, preferably with Public Authority Clients
  • Estimating Experience as a Chief Estimator, Director of Estimating, or Lead/Senior Estimator
  • Proven ability to multi-task, managing large, complex estimates - projects exceeding $50M
  • Above average communication skills and empathy
  • Software knowledge and experience using (HCSS/B2W, MS Project/P6)
  • Design Build procurement and Joint-venture experience preferred.
  • Aptitude for coaching, instruction and training.
  • Organized, process driven, self-starting, motivated and confident in work.


Compensation & Benefits:


  • Base Salary: $150,000 - $180,000
  • Profit sharing bonus
