Job description

Description:

Location: Oxford, MI (Onsite)

As a Quality Technician, you’ll perform hands-on quality inspection of precision-machined components and verify that materials, equipment, and documentation meet customer, government, regulatory, and Warnke quality requirements. You’ll play an important role in identifying quality issues, supporting production, and helping the team consistently deliver reliable, high-precision components.

Warnke is a subsidiary of Palladyne AI (NASDAQ: PDYN), a U.S.-based defense and industrial technology company that delivers embodied AI-powered collaborative autonomy solutions, advanced avionics, precision-manufactured components, UAVs, and advanced aerospace design services.

At Warnke Precision Machining, quality and craftsmanship are central to everything we do. Our AS9100D registered shop brings together advanced 5-axis machining, traditional manual equipment, precision inspection tools, and an experienced team that takes pride in solving complex manufacturing challenges. It is a hands-on environment where you can see complex parts move from raw material through machining, inspection, and final assembly.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are detail-oriented, comfortable working with technical measurements and documentation, and committed to preventing quality issues.

What You’ll Do

  • Running and programming Hexagon Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) using PC-DMIS.
  • Checking that raw materials or products meet quality requirements.
  • Maintaining calibration records for inspection equipment.
  • Reviewing production plans for quality requirements.
  • Estimating time involved to assure each product's quality.
  • Assisting writing and reviewing testing and inspection plans.
  • Assisting with vendor audits.
  • Verifying flow down of quality requirements to vendors and suppliers.
  • Verifying supplier and material certifications.
  • Conducting inspection of product from vendors and suppliers.
  • Investigating defects and writing non-conformances documenting defects and causes.
  • Writing corrective actions as necessary to prevent non-conformance recurrence and communicating findings.
  • Communicating with other departments to schedule flow through quality.
  • Conforming to regulations and international standards when it comes to testing and quality assurance.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of relevant experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, machining, or a related environment.
  • Strong math and technical skills.
  • Experience using standard inspection gauges, including calipers, height stands, micrometers, bore gauges, or similar tools.
  • Experience using a coordinate measuring machine.
  • Understanding of quality control standards, inspection methods, and testing practices.
  • Ability to document inspection results, defects, nonconformances, and corrective actions clearly and accurately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing and operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience using JobBOSS² or a similar enterprise resource planning system.
  • Experience reviewing supplier and material certifications.
  • Experience supporting supplier audits, nonconformance investigations, or corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with AS9100D or quality requirements in aerospace, defense, or another regulated manufacturing environment.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to inspection work.
  • Sound math, measurement, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication across manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Ownership of quality issues from identification through resolution.
  • Good judgment when balancing production priorities with quality and compliance requirements.
  • A commitment to accuracy, craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Benefits, Schedule & Perks

  • Hourly wage: $20 - $27
  • Full-time, Monday - Friday
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid time off and company holidays
