Senior Estimator โ€“ Commercial Plumbing

Precision Plumbing | Matthews, NC

Precision Plumbing is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. This role is ideal for a seasoned commercial plumbing estimator who thrives on large, complex projects and enjoys collaborating during early design and budgeting phases. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in estimating and preconstruction efforts for projects ranging from $25 million to $100 million in value for plumbing packages.

Position Summary

The Senior Estimator is responsible for evaluating project opportunities, preparing accurate and competitive estimates, and supporting design-assist and design-build efforts from early budgeting through construction documents. This position works closely with the Senior Director of Estimating and Client Services and collaborates with the estimating team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate bid opportunities and assist leadership in determining which projects to pursue
  • Prepare detailed and accurate plumbing estimates for large-scale commercial projects
  • Develop comprehensive bid packages including labor, material, equipment, subcontractor costs, overhead, and profit
  • Lead pricing exercises during budgeting, design, and CD phases, particularly for design-assist and design-build projects
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and project scopes to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities
  • Negotiate pricing with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, design teams, and suppliers
  • Ensure bids are submitted accurately and on time, in accordance with company policies
  • Incorporate lead times, logistics, and site conditions into estimates
  • Support management with recommendations to improve estimating accuracy, sales, and profitability
  • Maintain historical estimating data and job cost documentation
  • Uphold Precision Plumbingโ€™s standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commercial plumbing estimating experience
  • Proven experience preparing plumbing estimates for complex commercial projects
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and work ethic

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience estimating plumbing scopes on projects valued $25Mโ€“$100M.
  • Experience in the following sectors:
    • Healthcare
    • Industrial
    • Data Centers
    • High-Rise
    • Commercial Office
  • Experience with both new construction and upfit projects
  • Design-Assist and Design-Build estimating experience, including early budgeting and iterative pricing exercises
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and other estimating software
  • Familiarity with vendor negotiations, subcontractor pricing, and cost modeling

Education
  • High school diploma required
  • Four-year college degree preferred (or equivalent experience)

Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based in a climate-controlled environment
  • Occasional job site visits required in varying weather and terrain
