Job description

Restore Performance. Elevate Quality. Grow Your Craft.

Industrial Plating Company has been solving tough reliability problems since 1963. Our coatings and component remanufacturing help Fortune 1000 operations run cleaner, longer, and more efficiently. If you’re energized by building things right and learning new processes, this is where you can turn curiosity into a career.

We’re seeking a Precision Repair Machinist for Industrial Coatings in Chattanooga, TN. You will prepare, apply, and finish advanced coatings on diverse industrial components while cross-training on machining, grinding, dynamic balancing, chrome plating, and thermal spray processes.

Your Impact
  • Translate engineering drawings and work instructions into accurate setups and flawless execution.

  • Protect critical areas using effective masking materials and methods.

  • Safely move and position parts with forklifts/hoists.
  • Operate lathes, OD/ID and cylindrical grinders, blasting equipment, coating stations, polishers, and buffers.

How You’ll Grow
  • Master precision tools: micrometers, dial indicators, pi tape, thickness gauges, profilometers.
  • Develop surface prep expertise: visual inspection and sandblasting best practices.
  • Run coating technologies: plasma, HVOF, twin wire arc, and plating rectifiers.
  • Achieve finish targets, including mirror-grade surfaces.
  • Advance machining/grinding skills on lathes, cylindrical grinders, and positioners.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot rotating equipment component issues.
Are You a Fit?
  • Innate mechanical aptitude and a love for hands-on work.
  • Thrives on variety and pace; committed to first-time quality.
  • Team-focused, accountable, and solution-oriented (root cause over blame).
  • Comfortable with basic computer tasks and data entry.
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Manual machining on lathes, mills, and cylindrical grinders.
  • Experience with cranes and hoists.
  • MIG, TIG, or stick welding.
