What is precision logistics?

Precision logistics is a specialized approach to managing supply chains and delivery operations with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and real-time data. It involves using technology such as GPS tracking, automation, and data analytics to ensure goods are delivered exactly when and where they are needed, minimizing delays and errors. This method helps companies optimize inventory, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction by maintaining high standards of reliability and transparency throughout the logistics process.

What are some common challenges faced in a precision logistics role and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Precision Logistics often encounter challenges such as managing time-sensitive shipments, optimizing complex supply chains, and adapting to unexpected disruptions like weather or supply shortages. Addressing these hurdles requires strong problem-solving skills, effective communication with cross-functional teams, and the use of advanced logistics software to track and coordinate shipments in real time. Staying organized and proactive, and regularly reviewing logistics processes, helps ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a precision logistics specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Precision Logistics Specialist, you need expertise in supply chain management, inventory control, and process optimization, often supported by a degree in logistics or operations management. Familiarity with logistics management software (like SAP or Oracle), transportation management systems, and relevant industry certifications (such as APICS or Six Sigma) is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent organizational and communication skills make professionals stand out in this field. These competencies are crucial for ensuring efficient, accurate, and cost-effective movement of goods in complex supply chains.

Job description

Director of Sales (Warehousing, Distribution & Integrated Logistics)

Miami

Director of Sales (Warehousing, Distribution & Integrated Logistics)

Director of Sales (Warehousing, Distribution & Integrated Logistics)

Industry: Warehousing, Distribution & Integrated Logistics
Location: Miami Metropolitan Area, Florida | Field-Based Role

The Opportunity An established global logistics organization is seeking an accomplished Director of Sales to lead and accelerate its commercial growth. This executive role offers a competitive compensation package, executive-level visibility, and the opportunity to shape the future of a growing operation backed by a world-class logistics platform.

Our client is the U.S. subsidiary of a multinational logistics holding group and ownership interests in nearly 30 port terminals worldwide. The U.S. business specializes in warehousing, distribution, drayage, transloading, and integrated supply chain solutions.

This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned warehousing and distribution sales executive to step into a high-visibility role with direct access to executive leadership, a world-class operational support structure, and backing from a global organization with the resources to win large, complex accounts.

The Role This is a hands-on executive sales role focused on new business development. Reporting to senior leadership, you'll own the U.S. commercial strategy while maintaining an active field presence. Success will be measured by customer acquisition, revenue growth, strategic account development, and long-term partnerships.

This role is designed for an executive who enjoys building business rather than managing existing accounts. Once business is secured, implementation and ongoing customer support are managed by dedicated operational teams.

  • Developing and executing a proactive sales strategy to acquire new clients across the companyโ€™s core service lines, including warehousing, distribution, drayage, transloading, and integrated supply chain solutions.
  • Generating new business opportunities by leveraging your established industry network.
  • Identifying and engaging key decision-makers at target accounts through direct outreach and industry relationships.
  • Partnering with executive leadership to shape service positioning and to develop new commercial opportunities and growth initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • Warehousing & distribution industry experience: 15+ years of experience specifically within the warehousing, distribution, and integrated logistics sector. Experience exclusively in freight forwarding or NVOCC environments is unlikely to align with this position's requirements.
  • Active, portable network: You have dedicated years to cultivating relationships with decision-makers at manufacturers, importers, and distributors.
  • Hands-on, field-oriented selling: You are willing to visit clients, attend industry events, and build relationships personally. This role will not be suitable for individuals who delegate business development responsibilities.
  • Senior-level hunter mentality: You combine the drive of a hunter with the credibility, relationships, and commercial instincts developed through years of success.
  • Entrepreneurial and results-driven: You thrive on autonomy, set your own priorities, and measure your success based on new clients and increased revenue.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish): Fluency in both languages is strongly preferred to effectively serve the diverse Florida business market.
  • Executive presence: You are comfortable presenting to and working alongside C-suite leadership. You communicate with confidence, credibility, and precision.

Target Markets for Your Sales Efforts

The company serves a broad range of industries and commodity types across the U.S. market. You will be developing relationships with shippers, importers, manufacturers, and distributors operating across sectors, including:

  • Consumer Goods
  • Food & Beverage
  • Manufacturing
  • Building Materials
  • Paper & Packaging
  • Gas & Energy Products
  • Bulk & Project Cargo

Your primary market will be Florida, with a national scope across key U.S. distribution hubs. The ideal candidate will already have established relationships in several of these verticals and will be able to activate them from day one.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $180,000 annually + performance-based incentive plan.
  • Additional benefit details and commission structure will be discussed during the interview process.

Search Process

This executive search is being conducted by ezHIRE. To protect the confidentiality of this search, detailed company information will be shared with candidates who successfully advance through the initial stages of the selection process. Multiple interviews with executive leadership will be followed by a final interview with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
