Job description

Embrace Precision and Purpose - Become a Surgical Physician Assistant in Vibrant Portland
Overview
Inside the bustling operating room, a symphony of collaboration unfolds - a seamless interplay of precision, trust, and skilled communication. As a dedicated Physician Assistant with a focus on surgery, your role is vital; your impact resonates not only during procedures but extends to patient interactions in follow-ups and essential care settings.
We seek a detail-oriented PA committed to elevating our surgical services in a full-time position. Here, you'll stand side by side with experienced surgeons and compassionate nurses, ensuring that every aspect of your patients' surgical experiences is fluid, supported, and fundamentally patient-centered. Whether you're walking a patient through pre-operative education or deftly supplying surgical instruments during intense procedures, your contribution will be meaningful - in a domain where your expertise and dedication are genuinely appreciated.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough patient evaluations, including physical examinations and complete medical history assessments.
  • Assist in diagnosing and evaluating surgical conditions through the interpretation of imaging and lab tests.
  • Work closely with surgeons to design and implement individualized surgical treatment strategies.
  • Provide support during surgeries: preparing operating rooms, ensuring optimal patient positioning, and managing surgical instruments during operations.
  • Deliver exemplary pre-operative and post-operative care, including administering medications, managing wounds, planning discharges, and educating patients.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Preferred completion of clinical rotations with a focus on surgical practices.
Certifications
  • Current and unrestricted certification as PA-C.
  • Certifications in BLS and ACLS required.
  • Active state licensure or eligibility to practice as a Physician Assistant.
Skills
  • Robust understanding of surgical practices and sterile techniques.
  • Proven ability to analyze diagnostic tests and contribute to multifaceted clinical decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure surgical environments.
  • A compassionate bedside manner with deep respect for patient dignity and independence.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary with performance incentives.
  • Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision).
  • Generous paid time off and reimbursement for CME.
  • Supportive team culture with access to leading-edge equipment and resources.
  • Opportunities for career advancement in a vibrant healthcare environment.

Your Role in the Surgical Odyssey
Being a Surgical Physician Assistant transcends technical proficiency - it involves maintaining a steady presence during unforeseen challenges and providing comfort amid patient anxiety. Your proactive involvement in the OR is complemented by your essential role in guiding families, explaining diagnoses, and assisting patients as they navigate their paths to recovery.
From performing minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures to managing more intricate surgeries, your presence won't just be felt during operations; you'll also play a crucial role in post-operative care - conducting wound assessments, discussing recovery strategies, and planning for long-term health. Your contributions matter, your insights are valued, and your voice holds weight in every decision made.
In our team, your insight is crucial. We recognize that each successful surgical procedure is a collective success - built upon trust, humility, and relentless commitment to care.
Portland: Where Work Life Meets Vibrant Culture
As you step outside the hospital doors, you will enter a city that beautifully fuses life and vitality - welcome to Portland. Renowned for its progressive ethos, Portland is a place where iconic coffee shops serve artisanal brews alongside food trucks offering myriad cuisine options, all embraced within the lush embrace of the Pacific Northwest's stunning scenery.
Take advantage of weekends to meander along the Willamette River or to explore the expansive network of trails in the surrounding mountains. Whether you indulge in local breweries producing exceptional craft beers or explore artisan shops bursting with creativity, the community here is as inviting as the weather.
Thanks to no state income tax, your earnings stretch even further, allowing you to engage fully in the rich tapestry of experiences that Portland has to offer. More than a workplace, this is an area where you can cultivate a lifestyle that resonates with your values and passions.
If you dream of urban living with expansive views, or a quaint home surrounded by nature, Portland offers spaces for every preference. The local music scene? Incomparable. The cuisine? A harmonious blend of earthy delights and innovative flavors. The community? A thoughtful mix of visionaries, creators, and adventures seekers waiting to welcome you.
Who We Seek
We are in search of a Physician Assistant who not only embraces challenges but also finds satisfaction in meticulous care. The ideal candidate thrives in high-stakes environments, listens with empathy, supports with strength, and learns as actively as they teach.
You might be at the start of your surgical journey or come with a wealth of experience; what truly matters to us is your character over your credentials. If you possess an analytical mind, a steady hand, and a genuine passion for healing, you will fit seamlessly into our team.
Join Us Where Precision Meets Compassion
This opportunity is beyond a mere job; it is a calling - to assist individuals in reclaiming their strength, rediscovering their movement, and returning to their futures revitalized.
Become part of a dedicated team that esteems every role, celebrates collective successes, and views each patient as an individual, not just a case. If you are poised to contribute your surgical expertise to a community that cherishes both clinical excellence and a sense of human connection, we are eager to meet you.
