Precision Graphics information

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Precision Graphics roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Precision Graphics often encounter challenges such as managing extremely detailed and high-resolution designs, ensuring accuracy for technical specifications, and meeting tight deadlines for projects like schematics or printed circuit boards. Collaboration with engineers and other team members is essential to ensure that graphic outputs meet functional requirements. Staying updated with specialized design software and maintaining meticulous attention to detail are key strategies for success in this field.

What are precision graphics?

Precision graphics refer to highly detailed and accurate visual representations, often used in engineering, architecture, manufacturing, and scientific fields. These graphics are created with specialized software to ensure exact measurements and clarity, allowing for precise communication of technical information. Professionals in precision graphics may work on technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, or detailed illustrations that require strict adherence to specifications. The work is essential for ensuring quality control and accuracy in production, design, and research environments.

What is the difference between Precision Graphics vs Graphic Designer?

AspectPrecision GraphicsGraphic Designer

Industry UsagePrinting, manufacturing, signageAdvertising, branding, media

Precision Graphics specialists focus on the technical aspects of printing and production, often requiring certifications in specific software and technical skills. Graphic Designers create visual concepts for branding and marketing, emphasizing creativity and design education. While both roles involve visual work, Precision Graphics is more technical and production-oriented, whereas Graphic Designers focus on conceptual design and branding strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Precision Graphics Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Precision Graphics Specialist, you need strong expertise in graphic design principles, attention to detail, and proficiency in drafting or technical illustration, usually supported by a relevant degree or certification. Mastery of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, or CorelDRAW is typically required, alongside familiarity with digital file preparation and output systems. Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and clear communication make you stand out in this position. These competencies are essential to ensure accurate, high-quality visual outputs that meet technical specifications and client needs.

Job description

About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Business Content Specialist to serve as the primary creator and executor of our visual brand. This is a builder's role-you won't just guide the brand from a distance, you'll roll up your sleeves and produce the work itself. You'll transform complex business concepts, operational strategies, and data into polished, high-impact videos, executive-level presentation decks, and professional marketing collateral.

The ideal candidate is a disciplined, multi-disciplinary creator who thrives in production, brings an exceptional eye for layout and design, and applies established brand guidelines with precision to ensure complete visual consistency across every medium.

Important: This is an execution-first role. To be considered, candidates must submit a diverse digital portfolio or reel demonstrating both layout design (flyers and presentation decks) and video editing work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Script, shoot, edit, and produce internal and external video content (e.g., promotional videos, operational overviews, and training materials). Handle all post-production, including motion graphics, audio syncing, and color correction.
  • Partner with leadership and team members to design, format, and polish high-stakes presentations. Turn dense text and data points into clean, highly scannable, and visually compelling slides.
  • Design and produce clean, professional print and digital layouts, including flyers, brochures, fact sheets, and regional marketing materials.
  • Act as the daily gatekeeper for the visual brand. Ensure every video, slide, and flyer produced strictly adheres to corporate style guides, typography, and color palettes.
  • Organize and maintain a clean digital asset library of logos, templates, b-roll footage, and photography, ensuring team members have easy access to approved, up-to-date elements.
  • Other job duties will be added to the role as needed in the organization that might not pertain to marketing or content creation.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in graphic design, multimedia production, or content creation, preferably in a corporate or B2B environment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in graphic design preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
  • Expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint (mastering slide layouts, typographic hierarchy, and data visualization).
  • Proficiency in modern design platforms like Canva for efficient template and asset management.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of layout, typography, color theory, and visual pacing for video.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple production deadlines simultaneously and pivot quickly when business needs change.
  • Strong collaborative skills to take a rough concept or text outline from a team member and independently transform it into a finished visual product.

Core Competencies

  • Adaptability & Continuous Improvement
  • Business Acumen
  • Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Commitment to Cooperative Values
  • Dependability & Accountability
  • Effective Communication
  • Integrity & Ethics
  • Member Focus
  • Organization & Time Management
  • Problem Solving & Decision-Making
  • Professionalism
  • Safety Awareness

Individual Contributor Competencies

  • Attention to Detail & Accuracy
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism
  • Customer Service Orientation
  • Document & Process Management
  • Technical & Systems Proficiency

Physical Requirements

  • Sit for extended periods while editing video, designing layouts, and building presentations at a computer workstation.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, editing equipment, and camera controls, including repetitive motions and fine manipulation (e.g., precise cursor work for color correction, motion graphics, and detailed design layout).
  • Talk and hear to communicate with leadership, team members, and subjects during shoots, meetings, and collaborative reviews.
  • See clearly at close range and distinguish color, with the visual acuity necessary to perform detailed design, color correction, and brand-fidelity work. This includes the ability to perceive differences in color, contrast, and fine detail on screens and in printed materials.
  • Stand and walk, including moving around on-location during video shoots and between work areas.
  • Reach with hands and arms to position cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and other production gear.
  • Lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds (such as cameras, tripods, lighting kits, and audio equipment). On occasion, the employee may need to lift or move up to 40 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or climb to set up equipment, adjust camera angles, or capture footage from varied positions and heights.
  • Work in varied environments, including indoor office settings and on-location shoots that may involve exposure to outdoor conditions, varying temperatures, uneven surfaces, or moderate noise levels.
  • This position requires sustained focus, attention to detail, and the ability to perform detailed visual work on a screen for prolonged periods.
  • Because additional duties may be assigned as organizational needs arise, the physical requirements of this role may occasionally extend to tasks beyond those described above.

The statements contained herein describe the scope of the responsibility and essential functions of this position but should not be considered to be an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned including work in other areas to cover absences or provide relief during peak periods. Management reserves the right to add, modify, or remove duties as needed to meet the needs of the organization.
