Precision Graphics information

What is precision graphics?

Precision graphics refer to highly detailed and accurate visual representations, often used in engineering, architecture, manufacturing, and scientific fields. These graphics are created with specialized software to ensure exact measurements and clarity, allowing for precise communication of technical information. Professionals in precision graphics may work on technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, or detailed illustrations that require strict adherence to specifications. The work is essential for ensuring quality control and accuracy in production, design, and research environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a precision graphics specialist?

To thrive as a Precision Graphics Specialist, you need strong expertise in graphic design principles, attention to detail, and proficiency in drafting or technical illustration, usually supported by a relevant degree or certification. Mastery of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, or CorelDRAW is typically required, alongside familiarity with digital file preparation and output systems. Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and clear communication make you stand out in this position. These competencies are essential to ensure accurate, high-quality visual outputs that meet technical specifications and client needs.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in precision graphics roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Precision Graphics often encounter challenges such as managing extremely detailed and high-resolution designs, ensuring accuracy for technical specifications, and meeting tight deadlines for projects like schematics or printed circuit boards. Collaboration with engineers and other team members is essential to ensure that graphic outputs meet functional requirements. Staying updated with specialized design software and maintaining meticulous attention to detail are key strategies for success in this field.

What is the difference between Precision Graphics vs Graphic Designer?

AspectPrecision GraphicsGraphic Designer

Precision Graphics specialists focus on the technical aspects of printing and production, often requiring certifications in specific software and technical skills. Graphic Designers create visual concepts for branding and marketing, emphasizing creativity and design education. While both roles involve visual work, Precision Graphics is more technical and production-oriented, whereas Graphic Designers focus on conceptual design and branding strategies.

Job description

Lyntris is a defense technology company that connects sensing to action across the connected battlespace. Lyntris brings together the talents of Accelint and Vitesse teams under one mission, with each contributing deep expertise within their domain. Combining differentiated hardware, software and mission expertise, Lyntris helps customers sense threats, make sense of complex conditions and act with greater speed, precision and confidence in contested environments. Lyntris supports U.S. and allied defense organizations across every branch - including Navy, Army, Air Force, Space Force and allied partners - spanning strategic, operational and tactical missions and every domain: Space, Air, Land, Sea and Cyber. With more than 200 active defense programs, Lyntris works at every level of the mission, from national command authority to the tactical edge. Solutions are designed by operators who understand the mission, engineered for the conditions that degrade or defeat standard systems, and built on an open, modular architecture that integrates into existing programs without requiring them to start over. Lyntris moves faster than the traditional defense cycle - with integrated design, build and test capabilities in-house - and delivers systems that sustain and endure long after initial fielding. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will design and develop Navy-focused Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) that supports fleet-ready training aligned to NAVEDTRA standards. You will collaborate with highly skilled delivery teams made up of ISDs, Software Engineers, 3D Artists, Graphic Designers, and Technical Leads to analyze, design, develop, test, and deliver Navy training products - and have a great time doing meaningful work that directly supports the warfighter. Our ideal SME contributes to every phase of the instructional systems design process, validating design decisions with Creative Leadership, the Program Team, and other contributors throughout development. You will ensure accurate implementation of learning objectives, assessments, scenarios, and media elements within Captivate-based IMI, Unity-based simulations, and related digital training solutions. Our ideal candidate actively participates in weekly design reviews, collaborates with the Creative Operations team, and works closely with engineering and art teams to ensure instructional intent is realized in the final product. Duties and Responsibilities: * Conduct front-end analysis, including task analysis, gap analysis, learner analysis, and content reviews based on Navy operational requirements. * Develop learning objectives, storyboards, scripts, branching scenarios, assessments, and IMI design specifications following NAVEDTRA guidelines. * Transform complex technical information, manuals into clear, instructionally sound digital learning content. * Assist Instructional Designers design, structure, and sequence IMI modules delivered through Captivate, Unity, or other training pipelines. * Collaborate with Software Engineers, Graphic Designers, and 3D Artists to ensure instructional design is accurately implemented in the final product. * Develop mockups, flowcharts, and prototypes to communicate instructional concepts to stakeholders. * Ensure alignment with Navy training standards, course control documents (CCDs), TLO/ELO frameworks, and SCORM/xAPI requirements. * Participate in design reviews with Creative Leadership, Program Managers, and Navy customer stakeholders. * Evaluate IMI effectiveness and recommend improvements based on learner data, SME feedback, and usability principles. * Apply design thinking, questioning techniques, and performance-based instructional strategies where pathways may not be fully defined. * Ensure training products meet accessibility, usability, and quality standards during development and testing. * Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * Associate's Degree. Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree. * Understanding of instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, task-based analysis, scenario-based learning). * Ability to interpret and apply NAVEDTRA standards and Navy training system requirements. * Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear instructional strategies. * Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement instructional content. * Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills. * Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance. Preferred Skills (Not Required): * Experience developing or supporting Navy or DoD training programs. * Experience in the USN serving as a FC, ET, AT, IC, or any other DoD Service Branch/USN Rating with a thorough background in electronics. * Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI, and Navy Learning Management Systems. * Experience working with software engineers or art teams in multimedia development. * Understanding of accessibility standards and user experience principles in digital training. * Working knowledge of Adobe Captivate, Unity, Storyline, XD, or related design tools. * Experience writing or reviewing learning assessments aligned to performance outcomes. * Familiarity with TLO/ELO alignment, CCDs, and Navy courseware development processes. Physical Requirements: * Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. * Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Clearance Requirements Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information. Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).
