Job description

SPS is looking for an Estimator which will be responsible for independently delivering an accurate estimate on time. Experience in the Glass, Glazing, Curtain Wall and Metal Panels industry is required. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect Bid Documents (Blueprints, Specifications, Scope of Work) from various sources such as Emails, Client FTP Sites, etc. and organize them on company share drive for each assigned project.
  • Review drawings and specifications to determine the scope of work and required line items for each takeoff.
  • Compile a detailed takeoff of all exterior glass, interior glass and potentially, metal panel quantities required for the project. Measurements consist of multiple units such as Square Feet, Lineal Feet, and Count.
  • Collect material pricing and application instructions from multiple vendors for the various products required on the project. Store and maintain all price quotes in the project file as back-up for future purchasing.
  • Attend jobsite visits and pre-bid meetings when required.
  • Review the completed takeoff with Supervisor to ensure that an accurate, comprehensive, and timely estimate is submitted for each project.
  • Read drawings, conceptualize the building design, and systematically measure.
  • Monitor the bid dates for each assigned project, to ensure that the takeoff is completed on time.
  • Communicate with client with questions or clarifications, and organize all responses as part of the bid documents.

Requirements / Experience:

  • Degree in Architectural, Engineering / Construction Management and/or equivalent experience in the construction field.
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows and Bluebeam. Will also be willing and have the ability to adapt to new software programs.
  • Ability to read drawings, conceptualize the building design, and systematically measure the building components into a presentable format.
  • Highly organized.
