Building Enclosure Project Specialist - Kennesaw, Georgia

Intertek's project-related assurance, testing, inspection and consulting services are the risk management and quality assurance partner you need to ensure the reliability, safety and performance of your new developments, existing assets and facilities.  

Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects. 

What are we looking for? 

The Building Enclosure Project Specialist will assist project team members to ensure the success of projects during various phases of design and construction with an emphasis on Roof Consulting and Inspection services. The work will also include new construction enclosure consulting during construction phases and the evaluation, investigation, and repairs for existing buildings. This position will travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations; estimate is 50+% of the time. 

Shift/Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday core business hours (may vary slightly)

What you'll do: 

  • Perform quality assurance observations and monitor the construction process to assure that roofing projects stay in compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and best-practice or warranty stipulated installation procedures
  • Perform roofing systems construction inspections at site
  • Assist and perform other building exterior installations inspections as required
  • Assist with roofing and building enclosure field testing at site
  • Work with Project Managers on inspection, testing and/or investigative projects
  • Follow and enforce all safety requirements and company policies
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Review and thoroughly understand contract requirements, and obtain authorization for and document any deviations
  • Performconstruction administration services and site visits 
  • Prepare professionally written field reports 
  • Assist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements, etc 
  • Assist department admin in invoicing for all assigned projects
  • Learn test standards and test procedures (e.g., AAMA, ASTM, NFPA, etc.)
  • Maintain tools and equipment; inventory supplies; maintain cleanliness of work area
  • Assist in the sales and marketing of services to new and potential clients

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 7+ years' experience in commercial roof construction or related field, OR;

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or applicable Engineering with 2+ years' experience in commercial roof construction or related field
  • Registered Roof Observer (RRO) credential REQUIRED
  • Technical knowledge of commercial roofing systems
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Follow and enforce safety requirements and company policies
  • Ability to perform work from scaffolding, ladders, boom-lifts, roof levels, etc.
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, crawl, reach overhead, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs
  • Technically competent and able to effectively communicate with clients, designers, contractors, and coworkers, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to travel nationwide, depending on workload and project locations
  • Sound Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat)
  • A valid driver's license and reliable driving record
