Job description

Position Summary

The QC Precast Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing quality control operations in an automated precast facility producing about 10 houses per day plus beams, posts, fence walls, and arches. This role combines active involvement with strong team development, ensuring quality standards are met while building a reliable, skilled, and accountable QC team.


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop QC technicians and inspectors to create a dependable, high performing team. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Provide hands-on training in pre-pour inspections, post-pour evaluation, and testing procedures. Conduct daily check-ins with the QC team to align production goals and quality expectations. Promote clear communication between QC, production crews, and plant leadership. Identify skill gaps and implement practical, on-the-floor training.


Hands-On Pre-Pour Inspection

Perform and oversee pre-pour checks including form setup, cleanliness, alignment, dimensional verification, reinforcement placement, embed placement, and ensuring automated systems are ready. Coordinate with production teams to resolve issues before concrete placement. Hands-On Post-Pour & Finishing Inspection Inspect products after casting for surface quality, dimensional accuracy, curing results, and structural integrity. Verify finishing quality for beams, posts, fence walls, and arches. Identify defects early and lead corrective actions.


Quality Oversight

Monitor quality throughout automated batching, casting, and curing operations. Work closely with production crews to ensure consistent output without reducing efficiency.


Inspection & Testing

Oversee testing procedures including slump, air content, temperature checks, and compressive strength sampling. Ensure testing accuracy and consistency.


Documentation & Reporting

Maintain organized inspection and testing records. Track recurring issues and communicate quality performance and team progress to management.


Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

Lead root cause analysis and collaborate with production to improve processes. Reduce rework through proactive quality checks and team-driven solutions.


Qualifications

High school diploma required; precast construction background preferred. 5+ years in precast or concrete production. Strong hands-on inspection experience. Leadership experience preferred.


Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and team-building skills. Knowledge of precast processes. Ability to read drawings. Strong attention to detail and communication skills. Working Conditions Plant environment with automated equipment. Requires walking, lifting, and frequent inspections.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Team performance and development, reduction in defects, first-time quality rate, QC efficiency, and product consistency.
