About EGI Battery

EGI Battery is a U.S.-based manufacturer of advanced lithium-ion batteries, focused on delivering NDAA-compliant energy solutions for critical applications. Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, EGI is building a secure, domestic supply chain to support the growing demand for high-performance batteries in drone, eVTOL, and energy storage markets.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Sales Application Engineer to develop new customer opportunities, grow strategic accounts, understand customer technical and commercial requirements, and develop technical solutions that support long-term business growth.

You will work closely with customers and EGI's Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to develop opportunities from initial engagement through technical evaluation, RFQ, quotation, validation, and project award, while aligning customer requirements with EGI's technical capabilities and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

· Take direct ownership of assigned customer accounts and manage day-to-day customer activity, including follow-up, open actions, quotations, forecasts, samples, technical requests, and next steps.

· Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned accounts and maintain regular communication with customers to ensure opportunities and ongoing business continue to progress.

· Coordinate closely with the Program Manager, who will manage project execution and cross-functional activities within assigned customer programs.

· Proactively identify, target, and engage prospective customers in priority markets to develop new business opportunities.

· Solicit and qualify RFQs and RFIs, ensuring customer requirements, volumes, timing, commercial expectations, and decision criteria are clearly understood.

· Lead cross-functional preparation of quotations, RFQ/RFI responses, proposals, and other customer-facing commercial and technical submissions.

· Drive opportunities toward project award by coordinating technical closure, pricing, commercial terms, qualification activities, and customer follow-up.

· Maintain accurate opportunity forecasts, project timing, volumes, probabilities, and next actions within the sales pipeline.

· Develop and maintain account plans for assigned customers, including active programs, future opportunities, revenue potential, competitive position, customer priorities, and actions required to grow the account.

· Identify follow-on programs, new applications, and additional cell opportunities within existing customer accounts.

· Manage and grow customer accounts.

· Analyze customer application requirements, including voltage, capacity, energy, power, C-rate, duty cycle, temperature, cycle life, weight, form factor, and cost.

· Review customer flight profiles, load profiles, pack configurations, and test data to recommend appropriate EGI cells and technical solutions.

· Work with customers and EGI Engineering through cell selection, sampling, testing, validation, and production qualification.

· Identify gaps between customer requirements and existing cell capabilities and communicate those requirements into the product-development roadmap.

· Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis during customer testing and qualification.

Qualifications

· B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.

· 3-5 years of technical sales or application engineering experience with batteries, energy storage, electric propulsion, or other advanced technology products; experience serving defense, aerospace, UAV, or eVTOL customers preferred.

· Demonstrated experience developing customers, managing commercial negotiations, building sales forecasts, and executing account and business plans, with strong customer-facing communication skills.

· Experience interpreting technical specifications, electrical requirements, test data, and customer application requirements.

· Battery, lithium-ion cell, battery pack, electric propulsion, UAV/eVTOL, or high-power electrical system experience strongly preferred.

Perks & Benefits

· Medical, dental, and vision insurance through BCBS

· 100% 401(k) match up to 5% of base salary

· Opportunity to shape the future of U.S.-based advanced battery manufacturing

Travel Requirements

· Ability to travel domestically up to 50% at times for customer meetings, site visits, trade shows, and industry events.

Equal Opportunity Employer

· EGI Battery is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diverse perspectives and experiences and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
