Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Memorial Village is hiring a Registered Nurse PreOp
Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Memorial Village is a premier outpatient surgery center dedicated to providing safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Our center offers a wide range of surgical services in a patient-focused environment, supported by a collaborative team of skilled healthcare professionals.
 
We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Pre-Op Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team on a per-diem (PRN) basis. The Pre-Op RN is responsible for preparing patients for surgery, ensuring all preoperative requirements are met, and providing safe, patient-centered care throughout the preoperative phase.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including medical history, vital signs, and patient education.
  • Review and verify patient documentation, consents, and lab results.
  • Administer preoperative medications as ordered and monitor patient response.
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding the surgical process.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other clinical staff to ensure smooth transitions of care.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Document all patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, efficient, and supportive pre-op environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Must have at least 1-3 years' previous experience in PreOP/PACU
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
  • Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS
