District Manager

Behlen Mfg. Co., a world-class, locally owned steel fabricator, headquarters in Columbus, Nebraska, was established in 1936. Behlen is a founding member of the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA). Behlen is also the first firm in the United States to achieve the International Accreditation Service (IAS) AC472 accreditation. In addition, Behlen has proudly maintained ISO 9001 certification since achieving it in 1999.

Behlen manufactures building systems in Columbus, Nebraska and Sarasota, Florida. Behlen also has regional plants and sales and engineering offices in various parts of the United States. Behlen employs approximately 1,000 Partners in Progress (employees). Behlen Building Systems are used in a wide variety of applications including agricultural, churches, schools, offices, shopping centers, factories, warehouses, sports facilities, and government buildings.

Behlen Building Systems is looking for a District Manager, which is supported by several U.S. manufacturing facilities. As a result, we are looking for another Partner in Progress with pre-engineered metal building sales experience. The potential candidate must currently be in the PEMB industry in a Sales role. Behlen values working with a dedicated group of authorized Builders across the U.S. and are focused on strong relationships and high customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

The District Sales Manager (DM) is responsible for developing, growing, and maintaining new and existing business within the organization for the purpose of selling pre-engineered metal building systems in the allocated territory. DMs will meet with customers (General Contractors, Erector-Installers, Developers, etc.) on a regular basis to discuss their specific needs/concerns and make recommendations on projects as well as advise on business development issues. He/she is responsible for reviewing drawings and specifications to determine project requirements and to request/provide cost estimates. The DM is also required to write purchase orders, provide sketches/details, and present any other pertinent information for order processing. In addition, the DM will work with engineers, architects, marketing, and inside personnel to help define project requirements as well as positively promoting the Behlen Building Systems brand. DMs should be able to manage their time efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. DM's will provide estimates and quote requests while traveling along with meeting their appointment and recruiting schedule. DM's will also be required to work with the company software, keeping it current while accurately forecasting monthly and quarterly order expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :

  • Candidate must currently reside in the sales territory – Specific location: Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  • Five years of experience required with a metal building manufacturer and in a sale's related position.
  • Working technical knowledge of the metal building industry and construction, in general, is preferred.
  • Proven track record of sales growth, annually, and account management.
  • Ability to recruit new accounts and provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with programs such as excel, word, power point, and CRM programs are required. Working knowledge of the MBS software is a benefit.
  • A highly motivated, confident, and positive attitude is a must.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and meet short deadlines on a regular basis.
  • Positively interact with team members and provide solutions to problems expeditiously.
  • Data driven with the ability to analyze markets as well as build and implement a business plan.
  • Practice safe working habits and follow safety policy, procedures and Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
