Job Overview
The Learning Experience is seeking a highly organized Pre-Construction Project Coordinator to support the planning and execution of new childcare center development projects across the United States.
In this role, you'll coordinate activities from lease execution through construction handoff, partnering with internal teams and external consultants to keep projects on schedule. You'll work closely with Real Estate, Finance, Licensing, Operations, Construction, and Creative, as well as architects, developers, engineers, and municipal agencies to ensure projects progress efficiently through design, permitting, and pre-construction.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in project coordination, commercial construction, architecture, permitting, or real estate development who enjoys managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
  • Support development projects from lease execution through construction handoff.
  • Coordinate project kickoff meetings and establish key project milestones.
  • Maintain project schedules and proactively monitor timelines throughout the pre-construction process.
  • Identify potential schedule risks and work with project stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Track project status, updates, and reporting using Monday.com.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and information across internal systems.
Design, Permitting & Development Support
  • Coordinate prototype updates, design directives, signage packages, and branding requirements.
  • Assist with the review of architectural drawings, construction documents, and project plans.
  • Track permitting, zoning, entitlement, and municipal approval activities.
  • Coordinate with architects, developers, consultants, landlords, and local agencies to facilitate timely approvals.
  • Monitor project milestones and communicate delays or obstacles to project stakeholders.
Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Maintain project templates, process guides, presentations, and workflow documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Pre-Construction team.
  • Ensure project documentation aligns with company standards and brand requirements.
  • Assist with creating and updating customer-facing materials and presentations as needed.
Qualifications
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in pre-construction, commercial construction, architecture, project coordination, real estate development, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of permitting, zoning, entitlements, and commercial development processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and construction documents.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience using project management platforms such as Monday.com, Procore, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar software is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred
  • Experience creating or editing documents and presentations using Adobe InDesign.
  • Experience supporting multi-site commercial development or franchise expansion projects.
