Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Project Delivery, the Pre-Construction Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Operations team by preparing construction planning deliverables, formalizing documentation for client submission, coordinating project resources, and assisting with project startup activities. The Pre-Construction Coordinator will work closely with General Foremen, Project Managers, and Estimators in all operating regions to ensure projects are thoroughly planned, properly documented, and fully prepared for a seamless transition into successful execution.

Requirements

  • Assist with drafting and formalizing project-specific pre-construction deliverables in collaboration with the Operations team, including:
  1. Project execution plans
  2. Stringing plans
  3. Outage requests
  4. Grounding plans
  5. Crane lift plans
  6. Helicopter work plans
  7. Permit applications
  8. Preliminary project schedules
  9. Safety and environmental plans
  10. Access plans and requirements
  • Assist the General Foreman with transcribing site visit information into a project documentation, specifically to draft the Project Execution Plan
  • Organize, file, and distribute project documents, drawings, and specifications for the internal project team
  • Engage with established subcontractors to secure schedule commitment and obtain pricing
  • Coordinate establishing new vendor accounts, including preparing credit application forms
  • Maintains subcontractor prequalification data, and ensures annual updates are complete
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Coordinate IFB drawing reviews and submissions
  • Attend and minute project kickoff and project planning meetings
  • Assist with all other associated pre-construction tasks as required
  • Travel may be required

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • Able to work collaboratively within a project team
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education or related trades certificate is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologist, or PLT trades certificate is an asset
  • Previous experience in powerline construction or industrial construction is an asset
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Possesses valid driver’s license
