Primary Function/General Purpose of Position -

The graduate student will be working as clinical psychology/behavioral health trainee under the supervision of a licensed psychologist who is an employee of Mercy Physicians. Behavioral health patient services and training activities will include individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, psychological assessment, clinical supervision, documentation, and staff meetings. The graduate student trainee's schedule will be negotiated between the trainee and supervisor.

EXAMPLE:

As part of the BSMH integrated Behavioral Health (BH) program this role works under the supervision of psychologists for a 12-month practicum for students actively in a Ph.D. or Psy.D. program. Provides services and performs duties related to their respective disciplines and academic programs under the license of the supervising psychologist.

Essential Job Functions -

Provide immediate access to care as patients are identified as potentially benefitting from behavioral health consultation in a primary care setting

  • Consultation and triage for newly referred patients utilizing psychodiagnostics evaluation
  • Individual psychotherapy and couple/family consultation
  • Health behavior assessment and intervention services
  • Referral to internal and external behavioral health specialists or care providers, as needed
  • Crisis management as needed
  • Maintain patient records

Licensing/Certification

BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (required)

Education

Bachelor's Degree (required)

Master's, Clinical Psychology (preferred, must be completed within 6-months of hire)

Work Experience

1 year of clinical practicum placement experience (preferred)
