Job description

Job Summary

The intern role is designed to expose and challenge students pursuing or interested in a career, in social work or related field. This position will expose the Intern to the three core services for biological, adoptive, foster and kinship families as referred to by the Division of Children and Family Services.  The services are advocating in The Intern will work with families to assess needs and develop service plans that help promote family stability.  The intern may also be involved in ancillary program group community activities.

Job Qualifications 

  • Enrolled in a social work, psychology, academic program that requires practicum experience.
  • Interest in working and learning about families in diverse communities. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works as part of the Heights Suburban Collaborative team to ensure that the program meets all identified deliverables.
  • Maintains an active caseload, data in electronic record and produce desired outcomes.
  • Attend Team Decision Making meetings at DCFS and serve as an advocate to families.
  • Attend and participate in regular supervision sessions a minimum of one hour per week of every 10 hours of client care delivered.
  • Implements wrap around services by works with management developing, convening and being responsible for individual services plans that address mutually agreed family needs. Is responsible for connecting families to services as directed by the family.
  • Properly document work, keep statistics as mandated by the program, and meet all required program standards.
  • Learn and work proficiently to meet data input requirements of NCIS database system.
  • Establish cooperative relationships with local agencies, businesses and community organizations. 

Other Job Duties

  • Complete all special projects assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
