Basic Function and Responsibility
The Bilingual Counseling Intern will support the Center for Student Wellness and Support by providing bilingual (Spanish/English) care coordination and short-term counseling services to students. This role includes dedicated support for the Wolves Essentials Pantry, ensuring students have access to essential resources alongside mental health support. The intern will gain supervised clinical experience, contribute to outreach, and support resource coordination.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Under appropriate supervision, the intern will:
1.Provide bilingual (Spanish/English) care coordination and short-term counseling support to students.
2.Support Wolves Essentials Pantry operations, including assisting students with access to food and basic needs, and providing bilingual information about pantry resources.
3.Assist with intake processes, screenings, and follow-up support.
4.Support students in accessing campus and community resources, including referrals for higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
5.Participate in case consultation, team meetings, and clinical supervision.
6.Support outreach, psychoeducational programming, and wellness initiatives, particularly for Spanish-speaking and multilingual student populations.
7.Provide culturally responsive support to students from historically marginalized communities.
8.Maintain clinical documentation and records in accordance with ethical, legal, and institutional standards.
9.Perform other job-related duties as assigned that support the mission of the Center for Student Wellness and Support.
Supervision Received
Clinical and administrative supervision will be provided by the Director within the Center for Student Wellness and Support.
Qualifications
Required:
Currently enrolled in a clinical Practicum or Internship course within a CACREP-accredited (or equivalent) master's or doctoral program in Counseling
Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Interest in culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and equity-centered care.
Preferred:
Professional or lived experience working with historically marginalized populations.
Interest in bilingual mental health services and care coordination.
Working Conditions
Services are primarily provided on the Main Campus within the Center for Student Wellness and Support.
The intern may be required to provide services at other locations, including Romeoville or City Center, as needed.
Some evening hours may be required based on student needs.
Work is primarily in an office/clinical
Intern must adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA, FERPA, and ethical guidelines.
