Job description

Gartner's Corporate Communications team is responsible for defining, promoting and protecting the Gartner brand. By creating compelling content and marketing programs, our goal is to engage internal and external audiences in our value proposition and corporate narrative in order to drive long-term, double-digit growth.

The PR Manager will play a significant role in the development and execution of a holistic PR program for Gartner's IT practice to promote our expertise and thought leadership in the IT space, increasing our brand awareness among key targets (prospects and clients), shortening the sales cycle and contributing to the continued growth of the company worldwide.

What You Will do:

  • Work closely with the Senior PR Manager to significantly contribute to the holistic PR program for Gartner's IT practice in the Americas, focused on promoting our expertise and thought leadership, and generating brand awareness for Gartner in the IT space.

  • Manage incoming media inquiries by understanding reporter's deadlines and determining the right analyst for the topic.

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with VIP and top tier journalists, - responsible for half of U.S. VIP reporter listed related activities.

  • Lead PR/media relations activities for North America Summits, including pitching press release ideas, producing releases, attending weekly meetings with the Conferences team, providing PR updates, and collaborating with the Senior PR Manager on flagship conference (IT Symposium/XPO) activities.

  • Manage breaking news Rapid Response program, demonstrating strong news judgment and the ability to respond urgently and effectively.

  • Manage half of proactive media pitches each month in partnership with the Senior PR Manager, according to monthly and weekly scopes of work.

  • Identify content for and write press releases, analyst Q&As, conference daily highlights, and byline articles based on Gartner research, demonstrating strong news judgment and writing skills.

  • Manage external event pitches and outreach to maximize Gartner's media presence.

  • Track and measure monthly VIP press coverage and report on outcomes.

  • Ensure press lists for breaking news, content pitches and Conferences outreach are accurate and up to date.

  • Update analysts contact sheet at beginning of year and as changes occur, ensuring accuracy for journalist outreach.

  • Update the data book quarterly (at minimum), providing journalists with timely and relevant information.

  • Post press releases and events advisories on Gartner Newsroom and Business Wire.

What You Will Need:

  • 5+ years' experience in internal communications, public relations, corporate communications, or marketing role, preferably in a large organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field.

  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including senior executives and individuals in adjacent specialties, in a professional, fast-paced environment.

  • Must have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must be a self-starter who demonstrates independence and initiative in taking on and completing deliverables with minimal direction and oversight from supervisor.

  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization, including corporate executives and business leaders.

  • Experience in developing and executing communication plans utilizing a range of tactics.

  • Exceptional collaboration and problem-solving skills.

  • Sense of urgency when approaching job responsibilities, particularly when working with the media.

  • Be proficient in and actively use social media, engaging with journalists and amplifying Gartner's media presence.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 1-3 times per year, primarily to work onsite at Gartner Summits.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 79,000 USD - 109,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
