The primary purpose of the MDS/PPS nurse is to plan, organize, and monitor the MDS/PPS/RAI activity for the facility. This position assures compliance with all State and Federal MDS transmission requirements. The MDS/PPS nurse is responsible for collaborating with clinical and administrative staff regarding issues relative to the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. This position is responsible for oversight and coordination of Medicare and benefits through pre-admission assessments, assignment of a case mix score/potential RUGS score as well as identifying the appropriate payor source.
